Hello! Here is what I consider to be the best exercise for pointed pen calligraphy practice. I call it the 'mountain and valley' stroke. It is just a repetition of a light upstroke, followed by a swelled downstroke. Lined paper is useful for this exercise.
Practice pointed pen calligraphy anywhere the wind takes you - with a pencil! Yes, a pencil is great for practicing pointed pen calligraphy (and other types too!)- a softer pencil with a thick lead is great. This thick lead can be used with more or less pressure to produce darker or lighter lines.
