How to dip your pen for a great time will doing calligraphy! ------------- There IS a better way to dip that pen nib!! Get a better dip for your pointed pen by fully submerging the pen nib hole in the ink. Correctly loading your pen with ink will let you write much longer, and smoother.

Hello! Here is what I consider to be the best exercise for pointed pen calligraphy practice. I call it the 'mountain and valley' stroke. It is just a repetition of a light upstroke, followed by a swelled downstroke. Lined paper is useful for this exercise.
Practice pointed pen calligraphy anywhere the wind takes you - with a pencil! Yes, a pencil is great for practicing pointed pen calligraphy (and other types too!)- a softer pencil with a thick lead is great. This thick lead can be used with more or less pressure to produce darker or lighter lines.
